Approach:
Don't change: desire to change is the enemy of love. Don't change yourselves: love yourself as you are. Don't change others: love others as they are. Don't change the world: the world is in God's hands, and God knows. If you do these things, change will occur--in its own way and in its own time.
---Anthony de Mello, S.J.
This website is designed to address some questions you may have about psychotherapy and our relationship.I see the overall aim of therapy as an opportunity for you to work toward living in more satisfying, resourceful ways.We may focus on issues arising from your past, address and resolve specific problems, develop deeper personal awareness, work through inner conflicts, or improve important relationships.
I work from a person-centered
approach, which means I place a high emphasis on listening and on understanding
your situation and on how you are feeling and thinking about it. I strive
to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere where you can explore issues
which may be difficult to talk about at sufficient length elsewhere.
Policies:
We will schedule our meetings for our mutual convenience. My current fee
is $90.00 per 50-minute session. Because this is a substantial amount of
money--though not out of line with similar professional fees--it requires
that we both work efficiently and energetically. Payment in full for appointments
will be expected at the beginning of each session: this arrangement keeps
our attention focused so our time will be used most productively. Because your appointment time is reserved for you, you will be charged the full, regular fee for any session missed without a 24-hour notice.
I usually cannot be reached immediately by telephone, but I return any messages left for me as soon as is practically possible, Monday through Wednesday. I regard the information you share with me with the greatest respect. The privacy and confidentiality of our conversations is a privilege and is legally protected by federal and state laws and by my profession's ethical principles.
